1972 Topps Chicago Cubs checklist

With 787 cards, 1972 Topps was the largest set of its time and the largest set Topps would produce for the next decade. The front of these cards contain a color photograph of the player set inside an Arch with a dual border. The players is located below the photograph insde a oval panel and the team name is located at the top is SUPERHERO (3-D Jumping out) type fonts. The backs are set horizontal with the standard layout of Stats, Biography information and a Trivia Question. There are several subsets including In Action (IA) cards, Statistical Leaders (LL), World Series Highlights (WS), Playoff Highlights (CS) and new comers like Boyhood Photo cards (BP) and Traded (TR) cards.

There is no mention of the players position on the front of these cards. Released in 6 series; series 1 (1-132), series 2 (133-263), series 3 (264-394), series 4 (395-525), series 5 (526-656), series 6 (657-787). Series 6 cards (657-787) are scarce and demand a premium.
