1973 Topps Chicago Cubs checklist

1973 Topps was scaled back to 660 cards, a number Topps will use for the next several years. The front of these cards contain a color photograph of the player with the players name and team located below the photograph. The front is accented by a silhouette, located below the player photograph. The silhouette is inside a colored circle indicative of the players position which is noted just below it. The backs are in vertical format for the first time since 1968 Topps. The backs contain the standard statistics, biography information and a cartoon. Subsets include Statistical Leaders (LL), All Time Leader cards (AL), World Series Highlights (WS), Playoff Highlights (CS), Managers and Coaches (MC) and Boyhood Photos (BP).

1973 Topps is the last set by Topps to be released in series which creates scarce High Series cards. Released in 5 series, series 1 (1-132), series 2 (133-264), series 3 (265-396), series 4 (397-528), series 5 (528-660). Series 5 cards (428-660) are scarce and demand a premium.
