1982 Topps has 792 cards, the largest set to date and elimating the need for double printed cards. The card fronts have a color player photograph with 2 stripes down the left hand side of the card. At the bottom of the card is the players name, team, position and the Topps Logo. The front also contains a facsimile autograph. Card backs contain the usual statistics and biographical information.

Subsets include All Stars (AS), Great Performances from the previous season (HL), Statistical Leaders (LL) and In Action (IA) cards. Rookies are shown as Future stars on group cards Team leader cards contain pitching and hitting leaders.
