 Bob Addis was signed by the New York Yankees as an amateur free agent in 1943. In 1947, the Brooklyn Dodgers drafted Addis from the Yankees in the minor league draft and then traded Addis to the Boston Braves in 1949. Addis made his major league debut in the Braves outfield in 1950. Addis played sparingly for the Boston Braves in 1950 and 1951. He was traded to the Chicago Cubs in 1952 and had his best season with a .295 batting average and 13 doubles. The Cubs traded Addis to the Pirates in June of 1953 and the Pirates released him after only 3 games. Addis played 4 seasons in the big leagues with a .281 lifetime batting average over 416 total games. |
