 Bobby Bonds, father of San Francisco Giants slugger, Barry Bonds, was signed by the San Francisco Giants as an amateur free agent in 1968 and made his major league debut that same year playing along side Willie Mays in the Giants outfield. Bobby possessed great speed and power hitting over 30 home runs 6 times in his 14 year career ad stealing over 40 bases 7 times. He played for the Giants for 7 seasons before being traded to the Yankees. He was a Yankee for only one season in 1975 and bounced around to the Angels, White Sox, Rangers, Indians, Cardinals and Cubs. He made the All star team 3 times and was the MVP of the All Star game in 1973. He had a career batting average of .268, 332 Home Runs and 1024 RBIs along with 461 stolen bases. Bobby and his son Barry have combined for the most home runs by a father/son combination in major league history with over 1,000 home runs and counting. |
