 Cliff Aberson was signed by the Chicago Cubs as an amateur free agent just before the 1941 season. He played some minor league ball in '41 and '42 and then joined the Army in 1942. After his Army days, Cliff played with the NFLs Green Bay Packers in 1946. Cliff was a QB/HB in the NFL. He rushed for 161 yards and threw for 184 yards in 11 games with the Packers. After 1 year in the NFL, cliff returned to baseball and the Cubs. He made his major league debut in the Cubs outfield in July of 1948. Cliff played only 3 seasons in the big leagues, all with the Cubs. He appeared in only 63 games and had a .251 batting average with 5 HRs and 26 RBIs. After the 1950 season Cliff retired from baseball to try out for the Chicago Cardinals of the NFL, he didn't make the team. |
