 Hank Borowy of the Chicago Cubs

Hank  BorowyHank Borowy was signed by the New York Yankees as an amateur free agent in 1939 and made his major league pitching debut with the Yankees in 1942. Borowy recorded a 15-4 record as a rookie and started game 4 of the World Series. Bowery pitched well in 1943 and again in 1944, his first All Star season. In 1945, despite having his best season as a pro, he was traded to the Chicago Cubs. He finished the 1945 season with 21 wins. Borowy helped the Cubs win the National League pennant in 1945 and won 2 games in the World Series vs. the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers won the 1945 Series over the Cubs 4 games to 3. For the remainder of his career, Borowy would be plagued with a sore shoulder and blisters on his fingers. Borowy played with the Cubs until 1949. He played for the Phillies in 1949 and part of 1950 when he was traded to the Pirates. Borowy finished his career in 1951 as a member of the Detroit Tigers. Borowy won 108 games over his 10 year career with a 3.50 ERA.
