Pre World War II Baseball Cards (1919 - 1939)
The 20 years between World Wars were lean times for the Cubs but their baseball cards continued to shine. With Hall of Fame players like Kiki Cuyler and Gabby Hartnett, plus Rogers Hornsby and Hack Wilson, these 20 years produced some of the finest baseball cards around today. Tobacco products and advertising were still the main medium for most baseball cards during this time. It wasn't until 1933 that the Goudey Gum Company started producing cards that baseball cards became distributed with gum. |
